What is the Envirothon?

The Envirothon is a program offered by the Ontario Forestry Association. It is a program gets students outdoors, to experience nature first hand and hands on! Envirothon is a unique team competition that rewards students for learning about the natural world around them.

Up to eight high schools send teams of five students to participate in this three-day event at MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre. Interactive workshops will introduce students to forests, soils, wildlife, aquatic ecosystems and the human impact on all of the things we value in nature.

Envirothon uses field testing to develop critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and communication skills.  The winning team goes on to compete in the Ontario Envirothon held in May.

For more information, go to the Ontario Envirthon website at www.ontarioenvirothon.on.ca
